Rich tube growl.
The Tui Overdrive is inspired by the classic 1960s Supro amps that defined the 'small-box' growl - amps used by guitarists like Jimmy Page, Brian Setzer, and Dan Auerbach. The Tui Overdrive is a winner: it's a great engine for your pedalboard - with the warm, rich nectar sound of vintage tubes.
The Tui Overdrive is a medium-sized pink pedal, known for cursive flourishes, warm tone, and bright coloration. The Tui channels the unmistakable voice of the 1960s Supro 16T, a legendary circuit celebrated for its raspy, cutting overdrive and raw tube character. This amp species was favored by Jimmy Page on early Zeppelin recordings, Brian Setzer on his rockabilly tracks, and by The Black Keys.
In nature, the tui is surprisingly aggressive when defending its nectar sources, and is renowned for its beautiful, bell-like vocalizations and its uncanny ability to mimic other birds. The tui possesses two voice boxes (a dual syrinx), allowing it to sing complex, resonant harmonies and two distinct notes simultaneously. It appears stark black from a distance, but its feathers are actually highly iridescent, shining with metallic greens and blues in the light, with a distinctive white throat tuft known as a poi.
The Tui runs safely on a 9-volt power supply, with an internal charge pump letting it operate at 18V to accurately mimic the dynamic response and uncompressed feel of vacuum tubes. The control layout features the standard Volume, Drive, and Tone knobs, with a three-way Bottom toggle switch lets you tweak the amount of low-end power to fit your pickups and amp.
Each pedal is numbered in the clutch, soldered by hand, and has a custom hand-written signal inside.
